Scheme Purpose

Are you curious about how electronics are made or enjoy taking gadgets apart? An Electrical Engineering Apprenticeship could turn that curiosity into a career.

You’ll learn hands-on skills such as soldering components to printed circuit boards, assembling and testing electronic products, and updating technical documentation. As your experience grows, you’ll help troubleshoot production issues and gain experience across inspection and environmental stress testing.

This apprenticeship offers a solid foundation for careers in specialist areas like Testing or Engineering, and a rewarding path in advanced manufacturing and aerospace.

Details

  • L2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence)
  • L3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competence) – Technical Support
  • L3 Diploma or Extended Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge)
  • Open to all applicants aged 16 or over.
  • A genuine interest in Electronics / Electrical Engineering.
  • A desire to learn new skills.
  • GCSE Maths and English at 4 (c) or above is required.

Content

This scheme follows the Engineering Technician Apprenticeship Standard using the Engineering Technical Support – Electrical Pathway.

  • Induction Training
  • Rotation through core production discipline
  • L2 Foundation learning at college 1-2 days per week
  • Rotation through a variety of departments
  • L3 Foundation learning at college 1-2 days per week
  • Develop skills during a single placement
  • Participate in business improvement projects
  • Work towards EPA both in the workplace and at college 1 day per week.
