The Ipeco training centre

We have been training engineering apprentices since the late 1960s and you will often hear people at Ipeco describe them as the ‘lifeblood’ of our company.

The Ipeco Training Centre has full accreditation from City & Guilds, Highfield Qualifications and Excellence, and Achievement & Learning (EAL) to deliver a wide range of qualifications.

The workshop facility has CNC and conventional machine tools, together with bench-fitting and mechanical inspection sections. The ICT suite includes CAD software and computers for CNC programming activities.

Our Extended Career Scheme is dedicated to helping you people achieve their full potential. This is underpinned by a strong mentoring network across the business.

Over time, many individuals have advanced to senior positions, overseeing the business operations, and mentoring the next generation of employees.

Career builder schemes

Our  Career Builder Scheme, which has recieved a King’s’ Award  for Enterprise, gives young people the opportunity to develop a range of engineering skills,unlock their potential and pursue a fulfilling career. We take great pride in the progress of our young people and owe much of our success to those who have joined us through this scheme.

Trainees can become design engineers, buyers, accountants, assemblers, CNC machine tool setter/operators, programmers, taking positions of responsibility within the Company at all levels – supervisors, managers and even vice-presidents!

In addition to our Extended Career Scheme, Ipeco is delighted to offer schemes, including Mechanical Assembly and Upholstery, for those  more experienced and wish to change careers or retrain in a new trade.

Apprenticeships

Our three-year Composite Technician Apprenticeship combines on-the-job training at our specialist Composites Division in Clevedon, Somerset, with classroom learning at Weston College.

A Composites Technician is engaged in a variety of processes in the production and creation of materials and components that are used in a range of applications including but not limited to: airplanes, cars, boats, turbine blades, oil & gas rigs, bridges, trains and satellites. They provide specialised knowledge and skills that support manufacturing programmes and projects and may be deployed in the areas of design, tooling, moulding, lay-up, curing, machining, inspection, testing, repair and material production.

Qualification level: NVQ Level 2 and 3 – Composites Engineering & BTEC Level 3 – Composites Engineering

This apprenticeship is open to anyone over the age of 16, and is a fantastic way to kick-start a career and earn while you learn.
